Victory for Delegate

At midnight on August 14th the polls closed for the UN delegate elections. Candidate Dr.MaoShan (East Hylia) defeated rival Peraguss (The Separatist States) by a landslide victory in a highly heated delegate race in which Peraguss told both Mao and another citizen to quote "go suck a fat one," and called His Majesty a "b1tch" on the RMB. Dr. Mao in his brief manifesto briefly summed up his beliefs, stated what he believed his duties were, how to protect the delegacy, that he will hold a poll for every resolution, how he plans to enhance our power in the UN, and he goal of seeing us pass a UN resolution created by ourselves. On the other hand Peraguss' manifesto simply stated his personal views on Gay marriage, religion, abortion, capitalism, and education, and had some quote "smack-talk" as Dr. Mao put it. Once the elections started Peraguss began slandering His Majesty with lies after lies prompting him to write an article in his defense on the forum to which Peraguss replied under an anonymous name that MGB should "go get a girlfriend." Peraguss also advocated a change in the government (please note that in Empires of Earth the delegate is merely a representative at the UN and nothing more, he has no place in the regional government). This change would be to greatly limit the King's power, which he proclaimed as "unlimited" (please note that this is not in fact so, His Majesty even proposed a limit to his own power in Parliament, Peraguss was referring supposedly to His Majesty's absolute veto power which he is allowed to use in extreme situations). He also stated this: "Maybe some day we can even hold an election for King ." His Majesty rebutted with "Everyone choses to come here with prior knowledge that I am monarch, therefore every nation residing in the region counts as a vote towards my rule." Later on MGB also stated "However, I don't even know why we are discussing this, the bounds of my power is not within jurisdiction of the person whose job it is to represent us to the UN." He then called our monarch a "dictator" because His Majesty does have a bit of a problem with refuting any undue criticisms made about him.

Voter turn out was much higher than expected at 42. Dr Mao. Garnered 78% of the vote (33 votes) whilst Peraguss managed 21% (9 votes). Peraguss' unexpectedly high results are due to the fact that while His Majesty was recruiting, Mr. Peraguss would spam all the new nations telling them to vote for him, and they would knowing nothing about Dr. Mao. Dr.Mao did minimal campaigning, though still achieved 78% of the vote with a voter turn out of over half the region's defined "citizens" (having a nation in the region and an account on the forum). It can truly be said the people have spoken.
